What to do from now | O que fazer a partir de agora
Dear Friends,
I have a doubt and I will share with you!
Create and support this service is being very cool and a good experience, after a year and more than 20k users I’m in doubt of what to do.
I’m bothered because I don’t have time to dedicate to RL Widgets as I think I should. There are a lot of things to do and a lot of feature request on the forum that I can’t handle very well because I’m envolved with another projects here in Brazil.
I think of selling all RL Widgets, sources, database, domains, everything… to someone wich can give attention that all users deserve.
What do you think? Is it good as it is right now or I should look for someone to substitute me?
I wait for your comment!
Updated (Feb 12): I will not sell your emails, I don’t like spammers either!!!
Updated (Mar 29): The server will not go down, stay calm!

Queridos amigos,

I love “hackers” — that is, programmers like you who create — and add value — just for the sheer joy of creating. (Most often people think hackers are criminals, but that’s because they don’t know the true meaning of a hacker — the hackers that are criminals are called “crackers”).
But people like you are brilliant hackers! And you are doing a great job. Yes, it’s true there are some features I wish I could have, but really it’s doing what I need it to do. I know how you feel about not knowing if what you are doing is appreciated/wanted. I keep a blog, and my visitors hardly ever comment. You’d like feedback, but people aren’t used to giving it.
So here’s my feedback:
First, thanks for asking for feedback!! Another sign of brilliance. True leaders ask.
Second, hack away little by little to meet your users needs. To have ANY feedback in forums is a GIFT. Don’t give away your user base and the valuable feedback it provides you not only for this program, but for others you may create in the future.
Hope this helps. And thanks again.

Go for it, but whatever you do, don’t sell our email addresses so we get spammed. That would be bad, very bad. I have no qualms in you selling off a business you have created on your own merit.

I think your creation right now is great even if it has precious little enhancement over the next year or two. But it is your creation and if you can make a profit off its sale (minus the sale of user information as mentioned) no one can fault you for that! Thanks for what you’ve done and thanks for asking! Best of luck.

RL To Do List is great module and it actually works. While most users would probably want it to do something more or something differently the fact is that it already does what you claim it will do. It is easy to use and unobtrusive. So, many thanks for all the effort you have already put into the project.
Now if it is becoming a problem to manage and is consuming too much of your time for little or no return then you really should consider selling the lot (minus the email addresses, of course) to somebody who is prepared to take over and maintain the project. And hopefully develop soem of those enhancements that users have been requesting.
Many thanks

The RL To Do List is great and I love using it every day.
I didn’t experience any significant bugs (despite of being sometimes out of service for a few seconds) and therefore it works way better than all the other TODO-Lists out there. In my opinion, it’s great as it is and doesn’t need any further development.
So I suggest to keep this version up running.
thanks & good luck

What languages are you using to develop the widget as far as server side scripting goes?
February 20th, 2007 at 5:44 pm
Even if development stops, the product is great.
Please sell it only if you really feel you are getting what your work is worth. It’s really something special, so you should demand a lot, and make sure the buyers really understand how good it is.
Your tools work really well - a lot better than other things available in this field.
Thank you!

I think what you have created is great. I would love for you to keep it and just hack away little by little, but, then again, if you can sell it and make some cash, good for you! It will just be a bummer if whomever buys it starts to charge us.

I hope things go well — I haven’t been using the widget very much, but I like it, and it looks very promising.
I hope this resolves itself somehow.
What about OpenSourcing?

Only just started using it - so glad to see you are still here. It is simple and easy to use. Thank you.

It’s very good just as it is. Although it would be well deserved for you to earn some bucks for your time and effort, I would rather prefer that it stays with you, as is. And when you get the time and inspiration again, you might want to improve it.
Keep up the good work! Hack on!
